Led by Christopher Radford and Sara Macqueen, the company champions positivity, individuality and free expression and blends positive physical and mental wellbeing training throughout all areas of its work.

Linden Dance Company is a professional performance company that specialises in theatre tours, outdoor festivals and events. Our work is emotionally engaging, centered around current topics that resonate with society, and performed with blazing physicality in the movement styles of Contemporary and Afro-fusion. We integrate other art forms into our work, such a spoken word/poetry, and collaborate with musicians to create bespoke musical scores.

Our current work.

Unconsciously You is an outdoor Afro-Contemporary multidisciplinary dance duet exploring unconscious bias, challenging biases on gender and race through explosive and dynamic physicality, spoken word and a punchy, rhythmic score. The themes are drawn from our lived experiences, as a black male and white female living in the UK. The piece uses large boxes as set that explores the idea of ‘load’ and ‘the weight that we carry’ and provides exciting opportunity for working at height and scale to engage audiences. The movement language is drawn from Linden Dance’s ethos of championing cultural identity and positively channelling athletic training for body and mind.

–     Nurture and train physical awareness to build athleticism, anatomical understanding, and integrity.

–     Engage and challenge diverse audiences with different perspectives and emote current topics that resonate with society.

Linden are Associate Artists of 2Faced Dance Company and have been supported by Arts Connect and Arts Council England to continue researching, developing, and facilitating high-quality dance experiences for professional artists, audiences and young people that champions physical athleticism and emotional wellness. Linden has been commissioned by DanceXchange, Creative Academies Network, BIDF, BDN and Agitart Festival, Barcelona to create socially engaged performance work. Linden has performed works at festivals such as Birmingham Weekender (2017) and Birmingham International Dance Festival (2018 and 2021). Linden’s work is centred around promoting positive relationships with body and mind and sharing that with wide communities.
