Mostra Igualada is the landmark festival for performing arts for all audiences in Catalonia. The event is a great gathering of the best performances for children and young people, which every year brings around 30,000 spectators and more than 1,000 professionals to Igualada, the capital of Anoia. It also offers a space for meeting, exchanging information and making contacts between the different agents operating in the sector of performing arts for all audiences.
The festival aims to act as a platform for publicising performances created for children and young people for inclusion on the arts programmes of local councils and festivals in Catalonia and Spain, and to promote the internationalisation of Catalan companies. The event offers a wide artistic variety that responds to the production and demand of the sector with a focus on quality, contemporaneity, originality and the ability to incorporate new languages and staging in unconventional spaces. It encompasses all genres (theatre, circus, dance, clown, puppetry, music, magic, etc.), both as stage and street performances. Although most of the companies are Catalan, the festival welcomes Spanish and international groups as well.
The exhibition also includes an area for professionals – La Llotja – located within the Igualada Leather Museum, which consists of an area with more than 50 exhibitors, a space for presentations, catering, various work points and other services. Each year, a series of parallel activities are carried out, such as conferences, speed networking, working groups, and scheduled or informal meetings, which foster relations between the different agents in the sector.
