Love Glossop Winter Art Trail, Glossop High Street
Nov 27, 2021 - Jan 3, 2022

Funded by High Peak Borough Council utilising Welcome Back funding, the Love Glossop Winter Art Trail launched on 27th November, coinciding with the Christmas lights switch on in Norfolk Square.  The art trail encompasses 24 local business windows on the high street, which have been paired with local artists to create a town centre exhibition where Glossop is the gallery.  In addition, there will be an animated light projection in the town centre, featuring designs created during workshops with local art groups, run by Glossop Arts Project in collaboration with KIN.DER, Glossop’s new creative cooperative space. The work that the group created was brought to life by local animator Owain Paciuszko.

The inspiration behind the window designs came from a specially commissioned poem about hope and resilience by local author Mark P Henderson. One word from the 24 word poem will be hidden in each of the 24 window destinations along the High Street. As audiences follow the art trail, the poem will be slowly revealed. Glossop Creates has commissioned a map, designed by local artist Michelle Lyons, which can be picked up from KIN.DER by families on the evening of the lights switch on, encouraging them to join in and follow the trail around the town centre.

Participating artists are all local and include illustrator Chellie Carroll, street artist Deggy, author and artist Michael Howard, sculptor Brian Fell and renowned painter Ghislaine Howard.
