Derby Festé first came to the city centre streets in September 2007 to mark the opening of the Westfield Derby shopping centre (now Derbion) and then, the following year, the opening of QUAD arts centre.
Like the city itself, Derby Festé has previously grown in size and stature every year since then with thousands of people enjoying the spectacle of live daytime and evening performances by some of the best outdoor artists including those who come to Derby as part of their International tours. 2021 is different but our objectives remain the same:

- To showcase the city in a positive light – locally, nationally and internationally
- To support the expansion of Derby’s leisure and retail catchments by encouraging visitors into the city
- To support areas of the city centre such as Cathedral Quarter and St Peters Quarter
- To programme for innovation, income generation and legacy beyond the end of the festival
- To use festivals to directly increase audiences within the city’s venues
- To join opportunities to link cultural festivals and events with leisure additional leisure activities and infrastructure in the city
