In the vein of the Tony Awards® and the Academy Awards® comes the International Circus Awards, the first time in circus history that companies, artists, and circus producers from around the globe will have their shows recognized for their outstanding achievements.
Beginning in July of 2021 a committee of more than 30 voting members from 15 different countries will adjudicate up to 200 full-length circus show submissions. The committee will nominate and vote to award achievements in several categories including Outstanding Production, Outstanding Performance by an Artist, Outstanding Achievement in Dramaturgy, Outstanding Community Impact, and more. In addition, the awards will present two special awards, one for Critics Choice in collaboration with the online social marketplace CircusTalk and an Audience Choice Award chosen by the general public.
The mission of the Contemporary Circus & Immersive Arts Center (CCIAC) is to promote, produce and present contemporary circus and other immersive arts; embracing the unique challenge of bridging the divide between this awe-inspiring art form and American audiences with generally less exposure to this world.
