Join Bethany Shum (Circus Physiotherapist) in this 3-hour workshop at the National Centre for Circus Arts where we will focus on Load Management & Recovery Strategies for aerialists.

What will you learn?

In this workshop, we will dive deep into:

  • Physical Demands & Circus Bodies Challenges – Learn about common physical health conditions that aerialists face
  • Load Management & Exercise Planning – How to balance training intensity, volume, and recovery to avoid burnout and maximize performance.
  • Recovery Strategies & Injury Prevention – Active recovery techniques, and myofascial release for acrobats/aerialists/performers!

  • Performing Arts Specialist Physiotherapist (Flexibility Matters Ltd) in London.
  • Circus Health Practitioner at the National Centre for Circus Arts.
  • Pain Specialist Physiotherapist in NHS.
  • Master’s in Performing Arts Medicine at UCL graduating with distinction.
  • Presented her ‘Pain in Acrobatic Performers’ research at the PAMA Conference.
