After a successful online pitching session last year, Greenwich+Docklands International Festival (GDIF) and Spoffin, two leading outdoor arts festivals in the UK and the Netherlands, are joining forces to present a 2021 pitching platform, featuring UK and Dutch outdoor artists and companies. Open to festival programmers and arts professionals, this is an opportunity to hear about artists’ plans for 2022 and beyond, inspiring us to look beyond the current challenges as we emerge from the pandemic.
GDIF will showcase new work from Make Amplify (Now is Not The Time to be Gentle), Francesca Baglione (Eau de Memoire – supported by Without Walls through Blueprint), Joe Garbett Dance (Get Lost) as well as a new production from Fatt Projects (Big Gay Disco Bike – supported by Without Walls through Blueprint).
Spoffin will showcase new and existing work including Actic (Actic Carwash – commissioned by Spoffin), Firmakodde (Tricycles), Sounds Like Juggling, Lejo (Hands Up!), Marte Boneschansker (BLOOS de mannen), Pieter Post (The Turtle) and Piet Van Dycke (ON/OFF).
After the pitch sessions, Koen Guiking (Cultural Policy Officer at the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in London) will inform us about visa requirements (if any) that apply to Dutch theatre makers coming to the UK, and British makers invited to the Netherlands. He will also guide us through the possibilities that exist for British cultural organisations to apply to Dutch cultural funds and the Dutch embassy in the UK for a financial contribution if they offer a platform for cultural expressions from the Netherlands.
How it will work
The pitching sessions will be moderated by Angus MacKechnie, Executive Director of OutdoorArtsUK, followed by informal networking with the artists in virtual breakout rooms. All sessions will be captioned and BSL interpreted. Furthermore, all presented projects will be supported by a downloadable dossier on the day.
The GDIF & Spoffin PITCH session will take place on Sunday, 29 August at 10:00-12:00 (BST), 11:00-13:00 (CEST), 12:00-14:00 (EEST).
