Ludic Rooms invites you to a nighttime experience of art and light for all ages along Coventry Canal for Random String: Canals Network(ed.)
Random String is Ludic Rooms’ biennial festival of arts and technology. This year we’re bringing light, sound and projections to a stretch of Coventry Canal, following a 1km trail that ends in the Canal Basin. We invite you to venture along the canal and explore artworks that transform the waterway and our sense of place. This year’s theme is Future Folk, and we’re exploring new kinds of folklore and rituals for life by the water in the 21st Century. Discover the future creatures of the urban canal, gods and goddesses of the waterways, and new kinds of folk-tales.
Come out into the midwinter darkness for a special moment in the City of Culture year. You can buy tickets for timed slots across all four nights between 5pm-9pm. Part of this art trail includes an audio piece, so please bring headphones with you as we won’t be able to provide them.
Ludic Rooms is a Coventry-based arts and technology company and we’ve been running Random String since 2014. Our work is currently focused on the Coventry Canal Basin and we’re excited to invite local audiences to explore this special part of the city. Ludic Rooms likes to make work with other people and we’ve commissioned, collaborated and supported artists from near and far, to make this Festival happen.

This is an outdoors experience and will include access along footpaths where some ground may be uneven and visibility may be low. Please wear shoes and clothes suitable for moderate walking and weather conditions. You will need to bring a smartphone and your own pair of headphones to listen.
