Newcastle Mela, Exhibition Park, Newcastle-upon-Tyne
Aug 29, 2021 - Aug 30, 2021

Newcastle Mela is an incredible two-day event that takes place every year during the August Bank Holiday weekend in Exhibition Park, Newcastle-upon-Tyne. It’s free, family-friendly and everyone is welcome.

With up to 40,000 visitors from across the region, Newcastle Mela has been taking place for over 25 years and is one of the most vibrant and popular multi-cultural events in the North East.

The event is based around Pakistani, Bengali, Indian and other South Asian cultures and this is your chance to experience the music, food and entertainment associated with these cultures.

Over two days you will be entertained by singers and musicians; enjoy a delicious range of hot and cold foods from our many stallholders; buy clothes, gifts and jewellery; try out art, crafts and activities; and see some incredible performances by circus acts, dance artists and local groups.

We are very proud of the fact that our event is suitable for everybody, no matter what your age or background, there really is something for everyone. Our visitors come from far and wide and once you visit and experience the incredible atmosphere, you will definitely want to come again!

Our 2021 event will be a little different. Due to Covid 19, we will not be able to bring you the international performers that we have done in previous years. Newcastle Mela will be lower key this year and we’re sure you will understand that, but it will be just as enjoyable.

We all know how tough the last year has been for everyone living through the pandemic and lockdown. Newcastle Mela 2021 offers you a unique opportunity to come together and enjoy time with family and friends, relax and have fun in a fantastic, open-air setting.
