It’s back! This year’s Light Up Wakefield weekend invites you to follow a trail of spectacular installations and experience the city in a whole new light!
From 18-20 November, Light Up Wakefield will delight visitors with 3 days of light installations throughout the city – start by making your way to the cathedral precinct to view Futures, an immersive space in which audiences experience illusions that can reveal everything from how they process space and time to their perception of consciousness.
Then get in some Christmas cheer at the festive market chalets, warm up in the tipi bar whilst listening to acoustic music and watch the thrilling street entertainment including the return of Ghost Caribou.
Make your way along the trail taking in all the wonderful installations, including Bezerker, a giant monster, Dennis the illuminated fire truck, Trinity Walk’s brand new Christmas Lights and lit up inflatables at the Ridings Shopping centre. Head to The Art House to view the neon giant ball of yarn by Studio Vertigo before exploring Westgate’s rich heritage through a series of intricate light-based artworks by Tracey Meek.
Event partners Wakefield BID, Trinity Walk, The Ridings Shopping Centre, CAPA College, and Wakefield Cathedral will also host festive activities including fair rides, live music, face painting, Santa’s Grotto, lantern making workshops and much more!
