The historic streets of Fremantle burst to life as performers transform the city into a world stage every Easter.
Fremantle International Street Arts Festival started as a celebration of Fremantle’s local busking culture in 1999 and has grown into a showcase of the world’s best street theatre.
Each year over the Easter long weekend, the streets of Fremantle are transformed into an open-air theatre of the amazing, weird and wacky, while Fremantle’s famous alfresco dining steps up a notch, with pop-up bars and eateries extending into the streets.
Entertainment centres around several major ‘pitches’ or performance locations and roving performers pop up in surprising and interesting places all across the City.
AUDIO DESCRIPTION
Vision-impaired or blind people can enjoy these shows via the Access All Arts audio description program, run in conjunction with DADAA.
BUSKERS
It takes a special kind of artist to entertain crowds on the streets and many of our performers have travelled across the globe to perform for you in Fremantle. If you’ve enjoyed their performance, put some money in the hat, this is how they make their living.
STREET THEATRE
Theatre doesn’t always need to be in a black box with curtains. Enjoy international productions performed in the open air.
ROVING
These performers aren’t static, you’ll see them pop up in places all around Fremantle during the festival. We’ve given you a starting point; see if you can catch them along the way.
MUSIC
There’s nothing better than the sounds of live music filling the open air during the festival. Check out this year’s musical acts and bands.
Fremantle Festivals is grateful to the Whadjuk Noongar people on whose country FISAF takes place. We extend our deepest respect to their elders; past, present and emerging. We wish to acknowledge and respect their continuing culture and the contribution they make to the life of this city and region.
