‘Inside Out’
A two-part anti-conference for freelance artists interested in outdoor art experiences for children, young people and families.
Outdoors is the new indoors
Whether you’ve always delivered creative work for children and young people outdoors, have had to adapt your work for outdoors this year, or are just keen to experiment and play – we hope there will be something for you in these experiential best- practice sharing events.
Virtual Twilight Session – Thursday 26th August
We are hosting a completely free virtual twilight on-line session on the evening of the 26th August and we are encouraging as many people as possible to join us!
We will be sharing a range of inspiring case studies from a number of perspectives; outdoor arts experts such as Wild Rumpus, outdoor arts experimenters (such as us!) and other sectors entirely (think ‘forest schools’) who fully understand the value of nature and the outdoors on childhood experiences.
We’ll be tackling questions such as:
-What’s the unique potential in making work for the outdoors?
-How does outdoors arts relate to the idea of a more ‘democratic space’ for children and adults?
-How does the idea of ‘play’ intersect with theatre within this work?
We are in the process of confirming the practitioners who will be joining us online, and as soon as we have, we’ll add further details here.
Funded Bursary Development Day – Friday 27th August
For the second part of our anti-conference, we are delighted to be able to host a day of face to face experiential, playful adventures in Whitby Park, Ellesmere Port, Cheshire on the 27th August for CYP-focused and cultural education freelancers. As part of the event in Whitby Park, you’ll also experience Porto’s Peculiar Playground, ATT’s 2nd arts adventure trail, designed by Sascha Gilmore.
Thanks to Arts Council support, we can offer a bursary fund (of £100) for all 20 of the avalable places on this interactive Development Day. We know that for freelancers, coming to a ‘conference’ or engaging in CPD costs you time. And time is money! So we are delighted to be able to offer this additional support to the freelancers we want to get behind at this time. Priority will be given to freelance artists from communities who are under-represented in the arts sector.
