Circomedia has been building a partnership with an amazing local charity called Borderlands that works with refugees, asylum seekers and vulnerable migrants.
The scenes of hatred in Bristol this weekend do not represent the spirit or values of the greater number of people living and working in Bristol.
Through Borderlands, mothers and children from the communities they support have been involved in selecting the circus company creating our 2024 Winter Show, Mother Deer. And their contribution has been SO valuable – giving kind but honest feedback. We are continuing to work with the charity to strengthen our relationship and offer free circus opportunities for the children they support.
These kinds of arts and social partnerships can be seen across other local organisations with the intention of making a positive difference to people who are marginalised, and they are far more representative of the welcome and intentions of people and organisations in Bristol.
