Weston-super-Mare | 1 – 8 May | Good Grief is a new festival that aims to open up conversations around death and bereavement and will offer 30 workshops and events over eight days. This creative and diverse festival will give that elephant in the room a friendly prod!

Liverpool | 1 – 14 May | Eurofest will present 24 brand new commissions that will transform the city as fans from across the world descend on Liverpool. The majority of the work being produced has been inspired by the Eurovision 2023 slogan ‘United by Music’.

London | 4 May | Start the party early at The Crown Springtime Party as the country prepares for the Kings Coronation weekend. There will be three different acts showcasing their incredible skills including dance and acrobatics, comedy shows, and the world’s first singer/guitarist and violin beatbox act.

Spain | 4 – 7 May | For three days The Circus Festival, Circaire fills Alcudia and Puerto de Alcudia with shows and activities. An extensive representation of Balearic companies participate at the festival, as well as shows from Spain and abroad.

Spain | 5 – 7 May | The Lleida International Puppet Theatre Fair is the ideal setting for your children to delve into the magic and stories portrayed by endearing puppets. There are also networking opportunities for creators and programmers.

London | 6 May | As part of the Royal Borough, it is only fitting that the King’s Road hosts a day of extraordinary celebrations at the King’s Road Coronation Party. Expect live music and entertainment inspired by the King’s passions, each captured by the ‘plein air’ artists, painting the atmosphere as celebrations unfold – and another outing for Levantes Dance’s High Tea (with a Twist).

Winchester | 6 May | Hat Fair in The Square is an afternoon of performances and walkabouts in and around The Square, Winchester, to mark the Coronation of Charles III. Don’t miss showgirl Able Mable, knife master Unstable Acts with Pete Anderson and Edwardian walkabout act Jelly Rollers The Pram.

Tunbridge Wells | 6-8 May | It’s going to be A Right Royal Weekend in Kent…To celebrate the coronation in Royal Tunbridge Wells town centre, you can expect family fun entertainment, Royal themed shows, street theatre, arts & crafts, music, costumed characters, photo opportunities, games and TV screens to watch the big day.

Brighton | 6 – 28 May | Brighton Festival is a celebration of music, theatre, dance, circus, art, film, literature, debate and outdoor and community events in familiar and unusual locations. The whole festival kicks off with Same Sky’s Children’s Parade on 7 May. The festival includes many of the Without Walls shows including Upswing and Unlimited’s Ancient Futures and Sonia Sabri Company’s Mughal Miniatures. And don’t miss Galatea: a radical outdoor revival of early-modern theatre and an unapologetically queer tale presented by Marlborough Productions and Wildworks.

France | 10 – 14 May | Les 3 éléphants is a festival of music and street arts which takes over Laval every year in May. Street art performances will take place from Wednesday to Sunday – they are free and mostly during the day in different places in downtown Laval.

Spain | 11 – 15 May | Trapezi is the Catalan Circus Fair. Five days packed with exciting and innovative performances provide the perfect atmosphere to see, experience and discuss the best contemporary circus of the moment, including Catalan, Spanish and international artists.

London | 11 May – 11 Sep | Join At the Docks for a spectacular season of world-class arts, culture, and events at London’s newest and coolest waterside destination. The line-up includes contemporary art installations, the UK’s first zero-waste theatre, cutting-edge performances, international sporting events, music festivals, water sports, and more. Don’t miss Sea Change, 11-29 May, a three-week event bringing together international artists with leading UCL academics, inspired by research into sustainable responses to the climate emergency.

Norfolk | 12 – 28 May | For 17 days the Norfolk & Norwich Festival transforms public spaces, city streets, performance venues, parks, forests and beaches, bringing people together to experience the same brilliant and inspirational events. The opening weekend will be packed with Outdoor Arts, including Jones & Barnard, Dulce Duca and Glasshouse Dance’s Time Machine Disco as well as the first showings of many of the Without Walls 2023 shows including Trigger, Akademi, Avanti Display, Candoco Dance, Gorilla Circus and Just More Productions.

Bristol | 13 May – 4 Jun | Weekends of Wonder! will bring Bristol’s Broadmead to life with an outdoor street performance festival spanning four weekends this May and June. Expect vibrant circus and theatrical ‘Covent Garden style’ performances in circle shows and interactive walkabout acts, plus a treasure hunt of artistic window installations to discover.

Spain | 14 – 18 May | The Leioa Street Artists Fair has a powerful program that will bring the performing arts to the streets and squares of the city. 43 companies will pass through Leioa, offering 90 street shows with a diverse range of disciplines covering dance, theatre, circus, performances, clowns, walkabouts, installations and music.

Peterborough | 19 – 21 May | Peterborough Celebrates Festival is a community festival for Peterborough at Ferry Meadows. Discover and experience different activities, workshops, art installations, local community groups and food & drink around the festival – and keep an eye out for the fun and interactive walkabout acts!
