Todmorden | 1 – 30 Apr | IOU’s Two Rivers sculptural sound installation will be exhibited at 9a Projects, Robinwood Mill, Todmorden. The installation fuses woodcuts, sculpture, technology, spoken word, and sound art to explore themes of evolution, heritage, legacy – the circle of life, the passage of time, the cycles of nature.

Rotherham | 5 – 7 Apr | UPLIFT: Rotherham Skate & Art Festival returns to Rotherham for its second year, transforming the town centre into an urban playground. Offering 3 days packed with activities including skateboarding, BMX, demos, roller-skating, live music, art, dance, The Teenage Market, workshops, and street-food; come along and explore this amazing free event!

Portreath | 5 – 15 Apr | Wild Spring Hare has a brand-new adventure called Wild Awake: pass through the bluebell woodland; into a story world of wonder as the wild awakes. You are invited along a path of wild magick and awakening beauty, as the story world weaves around you and leads to the heart of the woods.

Belgium | 7 – 9 Apr | ‘The City of Wings Ypres’ is an international promotion festival for street arts: circus, theatre, music, dance, puppet theatre, installations, fire etc. Belgian and foreign artists (both professionals, semi-professionals and amateurs) promote new shows to organisers & promoters – and it’s free and accessible to all other spectators!

Australia | 7 – 10 Apr | Fremantle bursts to life during Fremantle International Street Arts Festival as performers transform the city into a world stage. The streets of Fremantle become an open-air theatre of the amazing, weird and wacky, while Fremantle’s famous alfresco dining steps up a notch, with pop-up bars and eateries extending into the streets.

Newcastle| 8 – 15 Apr | Spanning 9 days at indoor and outdoor venues across the city, Newcastle Puppetry Festival has shows, workshops, talks and films for adults, kids, teens and families. They are passionate about participant-led work and building avenues into the festival programme that allows local residents to get directly involved.

Newcastle| 8 Apr | Wor Seahorse Spectacle will shine a bright and colourful light on Newcastle’s maritime heritage, Roman mythology and Geordie pride. The project will explore and celebrate the historic links between Newcastle and the charismatic sea creature; the seahorse. Featuring 120 participants, giant puppets and music, this parade on Northumberland Street will be a colourful celebration to open the festival.

Edinburgh| 8 Apr | The Easter Story told live in the heart of Edinburgh We look forward to welcoming you to the 2023 Edinburgh Easter Play, The Life of Jesus Christ by Peter Hutley, adapted and directed by Suzanne Lofthus. The performance will feature a cast of about 30 people in period costumes, including the participation of the Antonine Guards.

Swansea| 13-16 Apr | The Circus Village Festival is a 4-day circus festival which brings together contemporary circus artists from across the UK, including performances that have been developed at The Circus Village (a circus sector development programme) in the lead up to the festival. With Big Top and outdoor performances, including free, pay what you feel, and ticketed events. There is a circus cabaret and also a Free Family Fun day on Sat 15 Apr.

Keswick, Darlington & Redcar| 14-30 Apr | Explore the town recording stories about your life and listening to other people’s in a unique, immersive bike ride by award-winning artists Blast Theory. Set off in search of the perfect place to hide a secret. Ride on and the voices of strangers will draw you to new and unknown places. Rider Spoke is presented by Eden Arts, taking place in 3 different venues in Keswick, Darlington and Redcar.

Sandbach| 22-23 Apr | This year Sandbach Transport Festival is back with a few tweaks to make the day even more enjoyable for the whole family! This year’s festival will take place over two days with, trade stalls, children’s entertainment, transport-related displays, food & drink, music on the cobbles and a parade on Sunday 23 Apr.
