The 4 Nations Outdoor Arts Bursary 2022 shows were performing in Glasgow from 29-31 Jul: this is a joint commissioning venture from Surge (Scotland), ISACS & Spraoi (Ireland), Articulture & Green Man (Wales) and OAUK & Out There Arts (England).
The shows:
  • Sound Foraging: Ardal Bicnic

Join Ardal Bicnic on their sound foraging rambles around the festival. They will be creating samples and soundscapes of all the sounds around us, using their portable sound backpacks. Come and have a look and try out their different equipment, trying out using contact mics, hydrophones, and having a go at manipulating sound loops using the pedals attached to their packs.

  • Tidal: Ofelia Omoyele Balogun & Kim Noble

Tidal is a dance theatre show that underlines the importance of creating bridges and connection through ancient knowledge in challenging modern times. Join dancers Ofelia and Kim in a celebration of ancestry and feminine lineage, looking at their Welsh, Norman and Yoruba Roots to find common ground within mythology and cosmology that they translate through their bodies and dance.

  • Tape That: Hands Down Circus

Tape That is a charming, light-hearted non-verbal acrobatic duet. Two performers construct a visual world using colourful tape, object manipulation and partner acrobatics. A simple roll of tape transforms from DJ decks to a spyglass, and is stretched to create physical barriers and obstacles for the performers to navigate. Tape That is a playful exploration of the world we live in; when challenges present themselves, just how many problems can be fixed with a few rolls of duct tape?

  • Alright Doll: Eilidh Reilly

Alright Doll is an outdoor art installation that examines the mainstream media’s portrayal of gender-based street harassment and violence. A protest, a provocation, a divergence; the work reconnects the narrative to the female voice as it questions the myth of the unlucky woman.

  • The Roving Court: Beside Ourselves Collective

Roll up, roll up! The Roving Court is coming to your town! Join pompous judge, the Right Hon. Ms Titebottom, and greasy barrister, Mr F. Arts Loudly, as they hear your naughtiest childhood crimes, committed years ago but finally brought to justice in a trial by child – yes, your own child – jury.

  • Is It You: Matthew Keys

Take a slice out of your day. Rise up and discover if you are the chosen one. Join a member of the Order of the Venerable Crust and gain a deeper understanding of yourself with a personal reading. Perhaps you are the chosen one? Is It You is an interactive magical comedy performance. May contain gluten.
