Hat Fair in Winchester is the UK’s longest-running festival of outdoor arts with a huge programme of events as well as community engagement and participation. OAUK is offering the chance to apply for subsidised places to attend this festival in a professional capacity for a weekend of performance and development events.

Festival Focus at Hat Fair is particularly suitable for festival producers and event programmers, Local Authority culture teams or BIDs and CPPs looking to programme more outdoor performance; we would be very pleased to receive applications from a broad spectrum of backgrounds and identities.

For this event, we are also offering a combination of subsidised and ‘pay it yourself’ places. This allows us to offer the opportunity to more people, so if you are already in the area and or can subsidise your own visit, you can apply to join the cohort.

What…
You’ll be in Winchester for a couple of days alongside members of the OAUK team and we will give you the opportunity to meet festival organisers and artists, as well as individual development time with the OAUK team. We’ll be seeing ‘A Handful of Dreams’ by Fidget Feet and learning about its creation and practical touring, as well as watching other shows as a group and allowing free time for you to engage with the programme independently. We’ll also have a group dinner on the Friday.

Who’s it for…
You might be a relative newcomer to the outdoor sector or new to OAUK or looking to expand your event knowledge and experience. Perhaps you’re already experienced in the outdoor sector but looking to work in a different area or reach out to new contacts. You might be part of an organisation or working as an individual. We will balance the levels of experience as best as possible. As stated above, we are particularly looking for those involved in the booking of work, however, we are happy to consider applications from elsewhere.

What we will provide…
Successful subsidised candidates will receive two nights’ accommodation and breakfast, £150 towards your travel and subsistence and we will be buying dinner on the first night.
