And suddenly it’s July! Here’s your roundup of some exciting Outdoor Arts going on this weekend:
Timber Festival runs this weekend in the National Forest, and if you’re lucky enough to have tickets you can expect music, stories, lessons and lectures, spoken word, wildlife, panel discussions, acrobatics, installations and much more!
The glorious Hat Fair is also taking place this weekend in Winchester! There’s a jam-packed programme to enjoy full of music, magic, dance, and performance.
Don’t miss Ports Fest, the newly-rebranded Portsmouth Festivities, this weekend. There’s online talks available, a virtual tour of the installation ‘Portsmouth Revisited II’, a giant interactive 3D jigsaw of the city, Open Studios at Art Space Portsmouth, and weaving workshops to get involved in.
International Youth Arts Festival is back in Kingston for 2021, running until 11 July. IYAF will bring the Rose Theatre and outdoor locations across the town centre alive with brilliant stories and performances for all ages. Don’t know where to begin? This year’s festival highlight, Hotel Paradiso, is a critically acclaimed hilarious and fun circus spectacular for all the family.
This weekend also sees the return of Sway Carnival! There’s so much to get involved with, from scavenger hunts, to Jazz on the Lawn, and the Sway Carnival Family Fete tomorrow.
Yorkshire Dance brings you Climate Encounters this weekend, a festival exploring how we can dance to a sustainable future. Including an interesting programme of talks, workshops, film screenings and performances, asking how dance helps us to move forward, digest science and find solutions.
Bradford Fringe Festival is launching into its third year tomorrow with local punk poet group Poetry’s Not F**king Boring, followed by a programme of inclusive comedy with Laugh-Able, the UK’s leading showcase for talented comedians with disabilities and mental health conditions, radical mathematical theatre from ANTS Theatre and Marcus du Sautoy and ‘Art In’t Park’ featuring De Nada Dance Theatre and Spin Arts.
If you’re in Hounslow tomorrow head to Bell Square to check out Emergency Exit Art’s Recovery Poems, an inspiring light poem created by artists Robert Montgomery and Deanna Rodger through talking and listening to communities.
Tomorrow join the African Diaspora Foundation in Campbell Park, Milton Keynes for the African Diaspora Festival, celebrating heritage and culture and fabulous food from Africa. Festivities include a stage programme full of music, performance, speeches, dance and a fashion show, and the community parade.
Watford’s extraordinary open-air performance festival Imagine Watford is heading into its tenth year this weekend! The annual outdoor celebration promises to once again transform the streets into places of wonder and excitement, with spectacular performances for all the family to enjoy!
On Sunday celebrate Cowley Road Carnival at home, with a virtual carnival from noon and after party at 6pm. You can also celebrate carnival day with your own street party, or get involved in the House Float Challenge and decorate your ‘house float’ as over the top as you dare!
