TGI Friday! Here’s your roundup of some exciting Outdoor Arts going on this weekend and at the start of next week. Enjoy…

Firstly, this one really caught our eye, because who doesn’t want to eat pudding while they enjoy their outdoor arts? A unique new offering from 18 Hours, Puddings & Pathways Festival celebrates the regeneration of the 31 mile 1066 Country Walk from Pevensey to Rye in East Sussex. It kicks off this weekend with performances from Circo Rum Ba Ba and The Show Globe, accompanied by samples of the 1066 themed ‘Queen Matilda Sponge” and “Medieval Medlar tart”.

The theme for Journeys Festival International – Refugee Week, ‘We Cannot Walk Alone’, comes from a moment in Martin Luther King’s historic ‘I have a dream’ speech and this year’s festival is an invitation to extend your hand out to someone new. Grab a pal and check out a range of films, books and audio experiences online, or head down to the outdoor stage at Manchester’s HOME for Journeys Live, a showcase of music from around the world happening this Sunday 13 June.

This weekend site-specific theatre makers Teatro Vivo invite you to explore enchanted Abbotsbury in their new production Ondine. Expect a community chorus, flying aerialists and unearthly characters! 12-13 June, limited tickets available.

You’re talking out of your tailfeathers! Today at 6pm, as part of The Plough Summer Open Air Festival 2021 in Devon, Illyria presents the Further Adventures of Dr Dolittle (before it heads to the Minack in Cornwall, next week).

We’re entering the last weekend of Birmingham International Dance Festival. This year the programme has been delivered online via its dedicated platform BIDF TV and until Sunday 13 June you have the opportunity to tune in to a variety of lively screen-dance performances and new film commissions.

Estuary Festival 2021 also continues this weekend. A large-scale arts festival curated in response to the spectacular Thames Estuary and the lives, landscapes and histories found there, you have until Sunday 13 to check out the vast programme of discussions, events, site-specific works, art installations and performances.

Fly away to The Roman Theatre Open Air Festival in St Albans to see OVO / The Maltings Theatre’s production of Peter Pan. Running till the 27 June, book now.

This year, the Pitlochry Festival Theatre in Scotland is bringing something new to the table with the opening of its newly built 80-seater Amphitheatre and Riverside Bandstand. They launched their season of outdoor performances yesterday with “Adventures with the Painted People” the long-awaited staging of David Greig’s new play which will run till the 4 July.

Lastly we’re jumping over to the emerald isle, where the Cork Midsummer Festival will be kicking off all across the city on 14 Jun. The programme features 40 world and Irish premieres and presentations of new work; created and presented by over 160 artists.
