After a five month hiatus from live performance, May finally saw some of the OutdoorArtsUK team re-emerging from their homes and getting out and about at real outdoor festivals and events with real people.

Lara attended Norwich & Norfolk Festival over the Garden Party weekend, and Angus spent the Bank Holiday venturing out to two different cities, visiting Brighton Festival on the Friday and then travelling up to Wiltshire for City Encounters on the Sunday. We’ve loved being out and about again, meeting our members seeing work from pre-covid that has been developed and adapted over the lockdown, as well as shiny new stuff!

In Norwich we were lucky enough to catch Gravity & Levity with Why, Damae Dance with  IRMÃ-sister and Simple Cypher with Roll Play, despite the wet and windy climate. Brighton was characteristically sunny and attended by a whole host of outdoor arts pals – seeing everyone outside of Zoom after a year of drop-ins and 1-2-1’s was quite delightful. We watched Black Victorians by Jeanefer Jean Charles, and another round of Roll Play. Black Victorians performed again in Wiltshire, in front of the spectacular backdrop of the Salisbury Cathedral, as did Simple Cyper taking us up to 3 viewings of Roll Play in 2 weeks – cyr crazy (niche circus joke). City Encounters also introduced us to Alleyne Dance’s stunning BONDED and Strong Lady Productions fab new show Strong Enough. Pif Paf were up to their usual ridiculousness with Toast, and we even managed the impossible – spotting The Invisible Man, aka OAUK member Marc Parry.
