Festival Lab Producers Course – Carnival Special, London
Mar 9, 2023 - Mar 22, 2023

GLOBAL CARNIVALZ / CERTAIN BLACKS / SHANGRI LA (GLASTONBURY) CONTINENTAL DRIFTS & RICH MIX PRESENT:

FESTIVAL LAB – CARNIVAL SPECIAL
AN OPPORTUNITY FOR YOUNG CREATIVES

Are you 18-30, from a Black Heritage or POC background* and are interested in learning how to produce events? Do you want to work directly on some of the best and biggest events in the UK?

Festival Lab Carnival Special came about in 2023 – as we have worked on hundreds of gigs, we realised the representation of people from a Black Heritage and People of Colour communities in Senior production was the least amongst almost all industries. Whether this is a major festival such as Glastonbury or diverse events including main UK Carnivals, there seems to be an alarming lack of senior producers coming from these backgrounds.

This course will offer 10 people the chance to develop their knowledge of various aspects of delivering and producing live events

We will be running the course for 9 weeks at Rich Mix (East London) and then offer a £90 a day work experience across Hackney & Notting Hill Carnivals, Ensemble Festival, Glastonbury Festival + onsite learning opportunities at Camp Bestival, Wilderness, Secret Garden Party and more events we work at during the summer. Our well-experienced lecturers will be coming from all areas of the event industry and will provide you with the skills needed before getting onsite to experience your new knowledge in practice. Lecturers from organisations including Boiler Room, Bristol City Council, Certain Blacks, Notting Hill Carnival, Continental Drifts, The Television and Glastonbury Festival and more!

The aim of this whole approach is that by the end of summer, all the participants will have enough event experience on their CVs to be able to approach most production companies and carnivals to get employed without the need for a degree

All the partners presenting this course will support the participants through the whole process and act as mentors to give them the best chances of getting a good job in the event industry.

The course is completely free and we have raised money to pay for your expenses at the event(s) you will be working at (£90 a day). If you feel this is a direction you want to explore and/or change your career, this is an ideal moment.

Applications for the course opens on 9th March 2023 and will close on Wednesday 22nd March 2023.
