Movement Maker and Performer in the Air and on the Ground

Vince Virr is a multifaceted international dance artist who has performed in more than fifty dance productions across six continents. His experience varies from performing, creating and collaborating to teaching and mentoring. He is passionate about work for young audiences, cross cultural exchange and intergenerational participation.

Originally from Bradford, Vince has spent much of his career in Scotland where he was a founding member of Barrowland Ballet. He has performed for many companies including; Matthew Bourne’s Swan Lake, Thomas Small, Scottish Opera, All or Nothing Aerial Theatre, Company Chordelia, Protein and Wired Aerial Theatre. He was also an Associate Director with the National Theatre of Scotland on the UK wide performance event “We’re Here Because We’re Here”.

In 2020 he was an artist in residence with Art Space for Kids (A.S.K.) where he created digital dance content including the national dance campaign “Wuhan Jia you”. Previously with A.S.K. Vince choreographed and co-directed the performance HOME, which was devised with a group of young people from China and toured France. He also recently co-choreographed on the Beijing Acrobatic Troupe with A.S.K.

Vince was commissioned by Imaginate to create Pop, a dance duet for the Edinburgh International Children’s Festival 2019 which will resume touring once restrictions allow. He also led the Choreography for Young Audiences professional workshops in Chile for Famfest 2019.

Vince is a member of The Workroom (Scotland), on the Bradford Creativity Council (England) and is on the advisory panel for Action for Children’s Arts (A.C.A).
