Art directly to your doorstep

From March 2020 until April 2021 Gemma Saunders and Jude Jagger shared the role of Programme Producer for Quays Culture. Born of the pandemic, social restriction measures and the extensive isolation felt by many people, the partnership developed a travelling light installation, Mystery Bird.  The piece was a collaboration between Jason Singh, Illuminos, Jack Hardiker, Helen Musselwhite and M3 Industries, put together by Gemma and Jude and the work toured to various residential locations in Manchester – entertaining an estimated 4,500 people in December 2020. As a result of this collaboration and previous work together at MIF, Gemma and Jude have started a new creative production company called Things That Go On ThingsWith a combined experience of over 30 years working in various roles across the arts, they want to create more cross-disciplinary work with excellent artists. They aim to remove the boundary of travel costs and the intimidation of cultural spaces by making high-quality art for people’s doorsteps. Their current touring project is a doorstep disco called COMPACT DISCO and they have created an oversized mirror ball, made out of discarded CDS, that travels on a bike with sound and lights integrated, bringing music and joy to residential areas. Things That Go On Things programmed and produced Light Night Wigan + Leigh in 2021 and 2022 and continue to make work that comes to the local community.
