Helen Gorton

With a background as a Stage Manager in traditional theatre dating back to the early 90’s I now also have over 20 years experience working on outdoor cultural projects, arts festivals and site specific theatre.

I am mostly interested in unusual and challenging projects in non traditional spaces. With great attention to detail, I am adept at planning, logistics, health and safety and the day-to-day running of an event. My skills and experience enable me to work well with and communicate with all artists and staff to promote the smooth delivery of an event finding solutions to problems or alternative ways of dealing with issues as they arise.

Most recently I was in charge of Logistics and Operations on Green Space Dark Skies (GSDS) for Walk the Plank, one of the 10 Unboxed commissions for which I received an award for Best Operations Manager 2022 at the AAA awards.

GSDS was a series of filmed participatory art events at dusk in rural locations across the UK and I am now interested in developing and delivering similar projects focussing on arts, nature and wellbeing.

Whilst the bulk of my work is now project and production management I do still like to undertake stage or event management roles when free.
