We create the environment for Carnival arts, people and communities to thrive
Global Grooves is a Carnival Arts ACE NPO based in Tameside, Manchester, drawing on worldwide cultural art forms to deliver jaw-dropping, inspirational Carnival experiences through music, dance, and visual arts. Our new Northern Centre of Excellence for Carnival will open in the autumn of 2021.
Since 2003 Global Grooves has studied, practised, developed and shared inspirational Carnival arts practice from around the world throughout the UK and internationally.
We feel incredibly privileged to embrace diverse global traditions with great integrity and respect, creating projects that motivate more people to connect with the arts as a way of making positive change for both themselves and others.
We are committed to creating environments for world-class Carnival arts to happen and bring people of every kind together to learn, share, collaborate and develop through music, dance and visual arts.
Our Carnival processes and productions reach a multitude of people taking inspirational shapes and forms in towns and cities, events, festivals, organisations, communities and education environments.
Carnival means many different things to many people, depending on their experiences, cultures and communities – which is part of both its beauty and its potential. Our lead artists were either born in the lands of the Carnival traditions we represent, or have immersed themselves in learning and mentorship with an array of highly respected artists, teachers and performers from cultures around the globe. From Africa to Brazil, Cuba and the Caribbean to India, we are honoured and humbled to have the opportunity to share a glimpse of the rich and often intertwined heritage of these phenomenal traditions in the work we do.
We serve young people, artists at every stage of their career, communities, and fellow organisations.
