PASSAGE Festival is organized by Helsingør Teater and Dunkers Kulturhus. The festival is one of Northern Europe’s largest international street theatre festivals.
PASSAGE Festival is a vibrant street theatre festival that is constantly evolving and expanding, especially in relation to what goes on around us. The city, the audience and the artists are equally important in the making of street theatre in public space.
The PASSAGE Festival should have celebrated the 10th anniversary of the cultural initiative in Helsingør with large, spectacular shows in the Culture harbour for thousands of people. Instead, we present a program in which international artists explore some of the spaces “the Helsingør locals” have visited in the recent months on walks and cycling tours in the vicinity of Helsingør, and where we live. The beach, the forest, the fields, quiet residential areas, the nursing homes, and the city. Many places we know well, as we have presented street theatre there for several years, even outside the city centre. But this year we have found even more quirky places in collaboration with the citizens of the Municipality of Helsingør.
