Moving Parts: Newcastle Puppetry Festival is a unique, biennial performance and training event produced by Moving Parts Arts. Taking place in Newcastle upon Tyne, the festival focuses on puppetry, mask, stop-animation and visual theatre. Spanning a week across multiple venues every two years, the ambitious event is geared to providing inspiring theatre experiences for adults, teens, children & families, as well as emerging artists and experienced practitioners. Moving Parts Arts won The Journal Culture Award for ‘Best Newcomer’ in recognition of the debut Newcastle Puppetry Festival in 2017.
​Moving Parts Arts is a grassroots arts development organisation based in Newcastle upon Tyne, UK. With the aim of building a hub for puppetry and visual theatre in the North East of England, Moving Parts Arts provides quality, accessible and diverse arts experiences and training for kids, teens and adults, as well as artists at different stages of their career.Â
Moving Parts Arts also runs the Moving Parts Scratch Space – a mobile pop-up venue that visits national festivals to give a platform to work-in-progress visual theatre pieces. New for 2021, Moving Parts Arts will be piloting the Moving Parts Puppet School – a new progression route training school for North East budding puppeteers.
