After a year that saw theatre fall to its knees, it’s the opportune time to dust ourselves off and herald in a fresh approach, throw open the gates and give a platform to a generation of new voices. With this renewed focus, Iris are delighted to return to their home in Covent Garden alongside 5 breakout theatrical companies, each of whom has been commissioned to present a piece of new work for one week this Summer.
During the run of the festival, the Iris team will also host Iris Theatre Eyes On where they will shine a light on a different artist or collective for one night only. These special one-off events are at an early stage of development and give audiences the opportunity to see exceptional work in its infancy.
Shakespeare Sundays will bring Shakespeare back to the gardens in exciting and interesting ways from a new play performed by Will himself to a new interactive adventure for young audiences inspired by The Tempest.
Closing the festival will be a 3-week run of Iris Theatre’s re-imagining of Arthur/ Merlin directed by Iris Theatre’s Artistic Director Paul-Ryan Carberry, which will take audiences on a lyrical ride of one of the greatest adventures ever told.
This Summer there will be something for everyone with music, magic, children’s theatre, spoken word and productions covering themes including relationships, heritage, health, family generations, adolescence and love in all its forms.
Join us under the sun or stars at our beautiful home at St Paul’s Church for a magical Summer celebrating theatre in its most natural of settings #seeyouinthegarden
