A free, online celebration of the Hindu Festival of Colours – creating a cultural connection across Greater Manchester and beyond
Holi is an ancient Hindu festival, known as the festival of colours, Spring and love. Celebrated in India, it has spread to other regions of Asia and to the Western world through the Indian diaspora.
The festival celebrates the arrival of Spring, regeneration and love, where people sing, dance, play with colours, and repair broken relationships. Playing with colours usually finishes by 12pm, then people get cleaned and dress up, visit family and friends, and enjoy cultural programmes.
Our programme is packed with cultural performances, and you can join in by requesting an arts and crafts instruction pack from your community group and send us copies of your creations and photos of you and your family playing with colours.
