ANHAD is a one-day festival of South Asian outdoor arts, showcasing the best of South Asian outdoor arts for everyone to enjoy. This will be a colourful and visual celebration of South Asian arts and culture, as part of South Asian Heritage Month, featuring the best local & national artists. Expect breathtaking music, dance, performance, installations at Bell Square & along a specially decorated Hounslow High Street.


CHILDREN’S THEATRE

Beeja – Choogh Choogh

All aboard for a delightful train journey through India. Experience the sights, sounds and smells evoked through South Asian dance, music and theatre; and meet some amazing characters along the way.

Balbir Singh Dance Company – Hopscotch

Based on the children’s playground game, this fun piece has two dancers and a musician bringing hopscotch to life in an unusual way.


MUSIC

Anando Mukerjee

India’s leading operatic tenor and enjoys an international career specialising in Bel-canto, Romantic and Verismo Italian and French opera. Anando has performed in major opera houses all over the world.

Nadia Javed

Solo artist, activist and lead singer of The Tuts

Zayn Mohammed Trio

Zayn is UK based, award-winning multi-instrumentalist, producer, composer & guitarist extraordinaire. Zayn Mohammed was the winner of Sky Arts 2016 Guitar Star and was mentored by the legendary George Benson.


POETRY & MOVEMENT

Anvi Prabhu- JOGI

‘Jogi Kaadatana’ is a lyric poem (Bhaavageethe) that is a special kind of poem-song in the Kannada language. It is written by contemporary poet Ranjini Prabhu, it is set to music by Upasana Mohan.

Choreographed and performed by Anvi prabhu using the gestural language of Bharatanatyam and the dynamics of theatre.


DANCE

Shyam Dattani- Bedam

Balbir Singh Dance Company- The Two Fridas

The Two Fridas is a fusion of dance, music and art to tell the story of two major artists of the twentieth century: Amrita Sher-Gil and Frida Kahlo.

Odissi Ensemble- Aroha

Odissi is a classical dance born in the temples of eastern India and found represented in carvings on the walls of caves and temples The Odissi Ensemble are the only professional Odissi company in the UK. They are a quartet of finely-trained dancers brought together by Kadam Dance to create thrilling performance experiences.

Srishti- Jham!

The independent Indian dance and music organisation run by Nina Rajarani MBE. Jham! is a fresh, youthful, contemporary dance and music work built on firm classical ground. The performance brings together the rhythmic, vocally percussive South Indian solkattu or syllabic recitation which is often an accompaniment to dance as well as a vocal beatboxing style.

Kirti Kala Mandir (UK)- Kathakology

Ashwini Kalsekar is a celebrated Kathak artist and choreographer in London. She is renowned for her expressions, grace and footwork.
