Free online workshop: How to be inclusive for your artists as well as your audience

An Online Workshop by Head Over Wheels
23/10/2025 1pm – 3pm

Are you a festival organiser, producer, events manager, or programmer working in outdoor arts and live events? Do you collaborate with freelance artists, creatives, and performers? This free online workshop is designed for you.

Delivered by Head Over Wheels, an award-winning disabled-led circus company, the session explores how to build inclusivity into the heart of your work—not just for your audiences, but for the artists and freelancers you collaborate with. Drawing on their eight years of professional experience performing at major festivals and venues, and their ongoing practice in accessible and inclusive design, Head Over Wheels will share practical tools, strategies, and provocations to help you:

  • Rethink access as a creative tool rather than an add-on.
  • Consider the lived experiences of disabled and non-disabled artists when designing opportunities.
  • Build festivals, events, and performances that are welcoming, safe, and empowering for everyone involved.
  • Challenge outdated expectations of what performers’ bodies “should” look or move like.
  • Create environments where inclusion benefits both artistic process and audience experience.

This is not a tick-box training exercise; it’s a space to reflect, ask questions, and come away with concrete ways of making your events more accessible, sustainable, and future-focused.

Whether you’re planning an outdoor festival, managing touring work, or producing community events, this workshop will equip you with fresh perspectives and actionable steps to ensure inclusivity is embedded at every level of your practice.
