This is The Austentatious Ball, a reimagined 18th Century Ball celebrating identity, belonging, and community in a dazzling spectacle of movement and flair.
It’s a brand-new participatory commission from Mayflower Theatre, directed by ZoieLogic as part of the nationwide Austen 250 celebrations.

What is it?
The Austentatious Ball is all about embracing your most ostentatious self—whatever that means to you. Whether it’s grandeur, glitter, gothic flair, or your favourite tracksuit—anything goes. We invite you to dress bravely, boldly, and be unapologetically you. Dress to express!
This is a free participatory experience for 100 people, taking over Guildhall Square, outside Mayflower Studios for an unforgettable celebration. Expect dance cards, live entertainment, and the chance to be part of a dance extravaganza—rooted in the real stories, voices, and dance styles of today’s communities.
