This Christmas, you’re invited on an enchanting festive lantern and light experience at Hampton Court Palace.
Encounter curious creatures, from glittering unicorns to polka-dot panthers and from lurking lions to galloping greyhounds, as you wander through the atmospheric gardens and historic palace courtyards after dark.
These captivating luminous displays are created by a skilled team of artists and craftspeople, and are inspired by the Royal Beasts, a collection of heraldic statues commissioned for Hampton Court by Henry VIII himself. Palace of Light is a chance to experience this unique historic palace like never before.
Allow around 45 – 60 minutes to enjoy the experience at a leisurely pace, to take in the displays, interact with installations and enjoy delicious food and drink.
Palace of Light rules
The Royal Beasts have rules you must obey on their trail:
1. Winter wind, rain and snow shall do as they please, and the historic cobbled courtyards and gravelled garden paths can be uneven underfoot; be sure to wear suitable clothing and footwear
2. If, like the Beasts, you get grumpy when you’re hungry, don’t worry, you’ll be able to stop for refreshments and festive treats on your visit.
3. Don’t leave anyone behind on the trail! Our younger visitors must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Unsupervised visitors under 16 aren’t permitted on the trail.
