OutdoorArtsUK is deeply saddened to share the passing of Tarby Davenport MBE.

Tarby shaped the landscape of East Anglia and beyond. From Albion Fairs to the Glastonbury Festival, The Millennium Dome to The Commonwealth Games. She was the founder of the award winning annual event Weird and Wonderful Wood in Suffolk which is now run by Tarby’s daughter Sarah since Tarby’s retirement.

Tarby’s creativity and enthusiasm for curating events that catered for generations of families led her to be awarded an MBE in the 2022 New Years Honours list for her contribution to the arts. Tarby was a curator of fun, an educator, a force of nature, an inspiration, and the greatest friend to so very very many. Tarby will be greatly missed but leaves us a million incredible memories.

Her funeral will be at 11am on October 15th 2026 at Wetherden Church. The family have asked if you could let them know if you are planning on attending. Which you can do so here.
