Sending good wishes to Dave

Dave Danzig of The Grand Theatre of Lemmings – aka: Dashing Dave Danzig Stunt Man extraordinaire.

Many of you know Dave Danzig as a pioneer and stalwart of the street theatre scene and outdoor arts sector, we have just learned that he’s very unwell, fighting sepsis at the moment.

He and his partner Mandy Medlicott have been leading the way in the sector as The Grand Theatre of Lemmings for nearly 40 years!

Perhaps you will have found yourself in a confined performance space attached to a motorcycle better known as ‘The Smallest Theatre in The World’, being entertained in the most intermit way by all sorts of wonderful minuscule shenanigans.

The Lemmings’ work has been wide-ranging from human cannonballs to comedy Morris men and a large range of double stilt illusions, that has taken them to countless countries.

The Lemmings began as a touring theatre company in 1984, creating vibrant theatre shows with inventive themes and great comic skill. Their work opened up to embrace ‘street theatre’ and they quickly became pioneers of the genre. In France, they were known as a ‘Compagnie Historique’ and travelled the world performing at outdoor festivals and events in over 26 countries.

Sadly, David is rather unwell at the moment. His partner in work and life, Mandy, wants as many positive vibes sent Dave’s way as possible, as he works on his recovery; so if you’ve enjoyed the Lemmings and Mandy and Dave’s work over the years, please send good thoughts their way.

If you’re part of the outdoor arts community and know Dave, then the Lemmings Producer, Cassie Catchpole, would love for you to send a friendly message or ideally a quick video that she and Mandy can share with David to cheer him up in hospital.

Please send your videos and messages to Cassie directly: catchpolecan@gmail.com and she will ensure they get to Dave.
