From epic spectaculars unfolding in public spaces to intimate moments where audiences and artists meet, the Freedom Festival in Hull creates, curates and delivers exceptional large-scale events and international cultural programmes that bring thousands of people together each year to experience the joy of shared cultural encounters, to create a real sense of community. OAUK is offering the chance to apply for subsidised places to attend Freedom Festival in a professional capacity to see the performances, accompanied by development events.

Festival Focus in Hull will be an artist-focused cohort as we will see a variety of different scales of work, as well as learn more about how the festival engages with and programmes around the notion of ‘Freedom’; we would be very pleased to receive applications from a broad spectrum of backgrounds and identities.

For this event, we are offering subsidised and ‘pay it yourself’ options. This allows us to offer the opportunity to more people, so if you are already in the area and or can subsidise your own visit, you can apply to join the cohort.

What…
You’ll be in Hull for three days, alongside members of the OAUK team and we will give you the opportunity to meet festival organisers and artists, as well as individual development time. We’ll watch the performances and learn about how the work is selected and a little about the history of the event. We’ll have a group dinner at some point to get to know the cohort better.

Who’s it for…
You might be a relative newcomer to the outdoor sector or new to OAUK or looking to expand your event knowledge and experience. Perhaps you’re already experienced in the outdoor sector but looking to work in a different area or reach out to new contacts. You might be part of an organisation or working as an individual. We will balance the levels of experience as best as possible. If you’re a booker or programmer, this is a good chance to attend the showcase.

What we will provide…
Successful subsidised candidates will receive £200 towards travel and subsistence, OAUK will provide accommodation and breakfast and we will buy dinner on one night.
