Last Thursday 27 May we hosted the third instalment of our ongoing project to map 2021 plans and projects for Outdoor Arts in the UK. This meeting looked at light events, from lantern parades, to illuminated trails, to light festivals and we were pleased to be joined for the meeting by a wide range of faces, both new and old. Light events have become extremely popular over recent years and there’s even word on the street that ‘light events are the new pantomimes’ – we’re not so sure about that, but it’s certainly a part of the sector that is growing every year!
Due to the fact that most light events happen in the winter months, we found that most people’s plans were tentatively optimistic, with festivals and trails largely opting to go ahead as planned, or push their dates into 2022 to err on the side of caution.
Visit out Light Night Mapping page for a list of what we know so far, and huge thanks to everyone who has taken part in this exercise.
