Professor Simon Mckeown Talk: ‘How Does Disability Interact With Mainstream Culture?’
After many years of creating large-scale exciting projects with disabled and learning disabled people across the UK, Europe the USA and not forgetting Ireland, Professor Simon Mckeown now presents a comprehensive talk on all his work.
As a relatively new Professor at Teesside University, the talk will be held there in-person and also online.
It will be fun, and exciting and will cover how the cities of Cork and St Helens were taken over with the wonderful disabled people of each city leading to Cork Ignite and We Are Still Here with Buzzhub/Heart of Glass in St Helens. From Channel Four, to work with the amazing actors Liz Carr (Olivier Award 2022) and Mat Fraser. From early disability jokes, 10m tall inflatable balloons to weird and wonderful 3 wheeler ‘invalid carriages’ and state of the art featuring motion capture featuring Dr Paul Darke.
