Online Fundraising Workshop for Creatives (SO Festival), Online
Feb 6, 2026

Join us for an engaging and practical online workshop led by fundraising expert Phoebe Wall Palmer, designed especially for arts and cultural practitioners who want to raise funds with clarity, confidence and purpose.

Whether you’re at the early stages of seeking support or looking to refine your existing fundraising strategy, this session will guide you through the key components of an effective approach, from crafting your case for support to identifying suitable funders and building meaningful relationships. You’ll gain tools to map out your fundraising journey, set realistic goals and align your creative vision with funding realities.

Participants will explore:

  • The fundamentals of building a persuasive story around your project or organisation.
  • How to research and target the right funders (trusts, foundations, individuals) for your context.
  • Structuring your budget and narrative to maximise impact and credibility.
  • Strategies for building long-term relationships with funders, not just writing one application.
  • Common pitfalls in arts fundraising and how to navigate them.

You’ll leave with confidence to take your fundraising forward with momentum and authenticity.

We aim to tailor the workshop to participants’ needs. Please email us on sofestival@mvtlc.org with your answers to these questions:

  1. What do you find most challenging about fundraising or applying for funding?
  2. What is your experience of fundraising or applying for funding?
  3. Please let us know about any gaps in your knowledge or skills gaps that you might have.
  4. What would you hope to get out of a workshop focused on fundraising and funding?
  5. Is there anything specific that you would like to see addressed in this workshop?
