King’s Culture is providing enhanced support to Early Career Researchers to develop new collaborations to advance research enquiry and public engagement with research.

This Researcher Open House is for Early Career Researchers (including PhD students) who are interested in collaborating with a creative practitioner to enhance their research and would like to learn more about how to go about it. It is also for artists interested in meeting or finding out how to collaborate with King’s researchers.
The event is from 14:30-17:00, followed by a drinks reception.
At this session you will:
- Hear from King’s Culture on how we can support your research
- Find out about the ECR Creative Collaboration Seed Fund for climate and sustainability related projects
- Learn how you can build your creative collaboration skills in our upcoming workshops with the Arts Cabinet
- Meet artists who are interested in collaborating with researchers
- Chat with other ECRs also interested in arts-based methods
The session will include a ‘speed networking’ activity, to enable initial connections across the room, and a drinks reception to allow for informal conversation and further connections to be made.
About the Creative Collaboration Seed Fund
The Creative Collaboration Seed Fund is an initial payment of £610 to pay for approx. 2 days of an artists’ time [based on Artists’ Union England suggested Hourly Rate of £38.01 for artists with 5+ years’ experience] to work with a researcher to develop a collaborative project proposal.
We invite proposals (very broadly) related to climate sustainability from early career researchers across all faculties.
Researchers will need to be available to connect with an artist between mid-June and end of July in order to work together for a couple of days.
We anticipate this will be the first stage of a collaboration process, with further opportunities to work together and produce creative work supported through King’s Culture platforms on the Strand and at Science Gallery London.
