Internationally award winning artist/choir leader/podcaster/composer/piano tuner bloke from Cornwall, UK
Seamas Carey is a multi- disciplinary Cornish performer, musician, writer and social commentator whose work sits at the intersection of comedy, music and cultural inquiry. Deeply rooted in Cornwall yet resonating far beyond it, he is best known for dissecting big themes—masculinity, community, tradition, belonging —with disarming honesty and a wry sense of humour.
A skilled multi-instrumentalist and composer, Seamas has created original music for theatre and film, and has collaborated with a range of arts organisations including Kneehigh, Wild Works, Bristol Old Vic, Traveling Light Theatre, Sally Cookson and The Spooky Men’s Chorale.
His solo work includes; Community Service, Help! I Think I’m A Nationalist, Pagan Pandemonium, I Wish I Was A Standing Stone and Seamas Carey Meets His 4 Year Old Self. He founded Cornwall’s first alternative male voice choir, Men Are Singing (2018–2024). In 2020 he won the Maurice O’Connell Bursary Award and exhibited a solo show at Tate St Ives.
