Winter Bloom, Colne
Feb 24, 2024

A mesmerising light parade is coming back to the East Lancashire town for the third year running.

The Winter Bloom project started in Colne as a small-scale celebration of light, with local community groups and schools working together to create artwork which was then displayed in town centre shop windows.

The venture was originally funded by a Covid recovery grant, and helped to create an event that would attract people into the town centre to support the extensive wealth of local, independent businesses.

By the time of the second event, held in 2023, the project had evolved into a light parade, lighting up the dark winter with incredible light displays.

This year, Colne BID will work alongside Building Bridges Pendle, Handmade Productions and the Local Cultural Education Partnership to deliver the Winter Bloom 2024 celebration, which is aiming to animate and revitalise Colne town centre.

The light parade will take place on Saturday, February 24 and will include the Independent Street Artisan Market, which returns to Colne to bring a street food arena, handcrafted goods, handmade treats, and drinks.

The parade will start from St John’s Church on Albert Road at 6pm and will end at Colne Bus Station for the grand finale.

In addition, the Whimsical Window Walk will return and commence from Blondie Brownie at Turners on Albert Road, and will work its way up to the top of town with artwork created by ten schools across the borough.
