Theater op de Markt is a festival for contemporary circus, open-air, and site-specific theatre. The festival programme is the result of an extensive research process (visits to festivals, conversations with artists, visiting try-outs, etc.) and a comprehensive residency programme during the year (Dommelhof, Neerpelt).
Together with other big European festivals, TodM is co-producing international circus and street theatre productions. Next to the bigger co-productions TodM is also investing in smaller experimental productions, in co-operation with regional and local actors. The festival is not only presenting contemporary work to a large audience but is always investing in young talent.
TodM is an audience festival, whose mission is to create an inviting context in which a broad audience can discover contemporary creations. In 2014 the festival welcomed approximately 120.000 visitors. The festival is a member of several international networks and projects (In Situ, CircusNext, …).
