Families are invited into a Teesside woodland this May to celebrate the arrival of summer, with fire rituals, maypole dancing, live music, local food, and more.
Inspired by the ancient Gaelic festival of Beltane, Take Me to the Forest is a unique theatrical experience happening over the first two weekends in May at Errington Woods nature reserve, only 5 minutes from Saltburn. Tickets start from just £15 and are on sale now at www.takemetotheforest.org.uk.
Take Me to the Forest invites people to travel through woodland glades and take part in activities inspired by nature to welcome in the start of summer. They can get involved in creative challenges, learn traditional dances, and explore a world of forgotten rituals and folk tales.
And for those seeking a spark of adventure, there’s the chance to leap over flames in an ancient Beltane fire ritual to bring good luck and prosperity.
Families can also hear storytellers sharing weird and wonderful tales from British folklore, build a collaborative piece of art, marvel at impressive fire-jugglers, and dance around a traditional maypole.
And afterwards, they can sit together and enjoy a feast of food and drink from local vendors.
This unique event has been created by Teesside-based Festival of Thrift and award-winning event producers Wild Rumpus.
