Longton Carnival & Pig Walk Parade

Starting from the Longton Exchange, expect a riot of flowers, music and dance to Longton town centre.

The day will feature an artisan market, music and dance performances, fairground rides and street food, along with the amazing Pig Walk Parade!

THE STORY OF THE “PIG WALK”

John Aynsley was Mayor of Longton from 1886. During that time he raised money and land for Queen’s Park, Longton, and also for Longton Cottage Hospital.

One of his fundraising activities was to drive a pig through the centre of Longton, which is being celebrated through Carnival!
