Creative Europe: Celebration [Walk the Plank], Coventry City of Culture
Jul 24, 2021

Coventry UK City of Culture 2021’s School of Participation will bring together creative practitioners from Coventry and nine European partner cities to gain new skills and experience in creating outdoor participatory events. In collaboration with Outdoor Arts experts Walk the Plank, this eight-day programme will take trainees on a learning journey, mixing hands-on workshops in making, movement and outdoor events – with opportunities to share best practice and learn from artists selected from across Europe.

The school will provide an opportunity for Coventry-based creative practitioners to build their international network and share ideas about working with communities with other cultural cities. The School will culminate in a ‘scratch celebration’ bringing together Coventry’s homegrown talent and the imaginations of diverse European artists visiting the city for the first time.

The school is supported by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union and led by Walk the Plank. Coventry is one of 9 international partner cities including Plovdiv 2019 (Bulgaria); Novi Sad 2021 (Serbia), Graz (Austria); Kaunas 2022 (Lithuania); and associate partners Limerick (Ireland); Yerevan (Armenia); Tartu 2024 (Estonia) and Veszprem (Hungary).

Supported by Creative Europe Programme of the European Union, National Lottery Heritage Fund and Arts Council England, led by Walk the Plank.
