In the wet and miserable summer of 2006, the clouds disappeared for one special day to let the glorious sunshine through on Wales. This paved the way for one of the most unique events in the history of Cardiff, the first Cardiff Mela. This community and social cohesion event is open to everyone, all ages and all colours and most importantly it is a FREE ENTRY event! The 2023 Mela will mark 17 years since the first Cardiff Mela event and will take place on Sunday 4th June 2023. Previous events have attracted 30,000 visitors in a day and with planning underway, 2023 is set to be bigger and better!
The Mela showcases a wide diversity of cultures, music, dance, arts, fashion and food to name a few. Although Mela’s roots are in Asian cultures, this is a festival for all and aims to educate, share and celebrate all cultures.
