- Newport Pagnell: Olney Brass are playing the the parade at the Newport Pagnell Carnival! The famous carnival parade leaves Blakelands, lead by our very own Carni Croc at 12 0on. The parade travels through the town, past a huge and supportive crowd and down onto Riverside Meadow. Every year thousands of people line the streets to cheer, support and donate pennies to all of the parade entrants. What’s more, they do it whatever the weather! The theme for Carnival 2024 is….. - Proms in the Playground new: This years #PromsInThePlayground will take place 8 – 26 July 2024. All brass bands and schools and invited to take part! Now an annual event in its fourth year, #PromsInThePlayground is the initiative that encourages community bands to connect with their local schools by offering a performance in their playground. As well as getting young people excited about brass banding, this initiative will help bands forge and strengthen relationships with organisations around them. For those bands that want to go beyond just a performance, the initiative is an ideal opportunity to offer a taster session so school children can learn about the opportunities in your brass band. - Summer Season on the Quay: Join us for our Summer Season of Concerts on the Quay, every Monday evening from 27 May through until 19 August, culminating in our Annual Appledore Proms on Sunday 25 August. - Brass at the Seaside Schools Day: Young brass players from 6 schools will come together to make music as part of the annual “Brass at the Seaside” Festival. These youngsters will only have started playing brass in their schools in the 6 weeks before the festival. Tuition and instruments will be provided by Lancashire Music Service, and everyone will work towards the festival. 3 schools will meet in the morning from 9-12 and 3 in the after0on from 12.30-3.30. Popular with all those who care about where their food is sourced, the market is set against the magnificent backdrop of St Michael’s Church. - Durham Miners Gala: Every year, more than 200,000 people march in Britain’s biggest celebration of trade union and community values – the Durham Miners’ Gala! It’s a celebration of the County’s mining heritage and the past we inherit – but also, the future future we create. Hosted by the Durham Miners Association (DMA) since 1871, the Gala is the world’s greatest celebration of community, international solidarity, and working class life. - All Saints Church Fete, Hatchwood House, Odiham: A traditional English village fete. - Brass at the Seaside!: An outdoor festival Now in it’s 5th year, featuring 14 bands from all over Lancashire, Yorkshire and Greater Manchester, Each band will perform for one hour, one after the other on the famous bandstand next to St Anne’s Pier. The event is sponsored by Lancashire Music Hub. - Ironbridge Gorge Brass Band Festival: A two-day-long free brass band festival in the midlands! Our lovely site will include covered seating, food and drink plus a bar. Everything you need to enjoy a great day out. Over 20 bands will feature over the weekend, each performing a 30-minute set. - Buxton Carnival Featuring Burbage Band: Buxton Well Dressing and Carnival is celebrated each year during the first two weeks of July. The annual event is hugely popular with locals and visitors, taking place around the town and including a big fair. It has Now been over 180 years since the tradition first started in Buxton. Burbage Band are very much looking forward to participating in this year’s carnival. - Brass At The Castle: A celebration of Cumbria’s Brass Band heritage. The event will launch the Cumbria Brass Network which will promote cohesion, inclusivity and youth involvement in banding. The organisers aim to break down barriers to participation, especially for those facing rural transport challenges, as well as marginalised communities. The weekend will link bands with schools, community groups and individuals with special needs. There is a rich musical tapestry of brass music in Cumbria which this event will help to capture, document, share and sustain through recordings and this dedicated website, to create a lasting impact on this region’s cultural legacy. “Brass at the Castle” is for all groups with a connection to brass: from brass bands to swing bands, wind groups to Bollywood.
