A unique outdoor performance, telling the little-known story of the moment women transformed their clothing to be able to ride on bicycles. Visual narrative using movement, character and humour, costume & cake.
Join the Sussex Blazing Saddles in performances and pop-up displays about the impact of bicycles on women in Sussex from the 1890s to 1928. This was an important time of revolution for women when bicycles spurred the suffrage movement, transformed women’s clothing and caused media sensations.
This is part of a 2-year Sussex project led by KP Projects CIC, supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and local partners, working with archives, community groups, local museums and volunteers to find forgotten stories about pioneering women cyclists.
