Gravity & Levity Aerial Dance

A Disabled Led Aerial Dance Company, Specialising in Vertical Dance, Delivering World Class Artist Development and Exciting Audience Imaginations

Gravity & Levity led by Lindsey Butcher is an aerial dance company specialising in vertical dance, maximising the creative potential of artists, and developing audience imagination.

We currently have two outdoor shows available for touring:

‘Crawdaddy’ – is an aerial dance piece from acclaimed choreographer Charles Linehan for three veteran performers (Lindsey Butcher,  Lee Clayden and musician Scott Smith) who tumble, spin and glide through a bespoke aerial set. Played live, Scott Smith’s taut steel guitar strings and harmonica release raucous blues and swampy atmospheric loops for Crawdaddy’s imagined setting of backyard Americana. (Running time – 30 mins) ‘Charles Linehan’s superb pacing and choreographic language is spellbinding.  The performers are so experienced that even when there are high risk moments, we can abandon doubt and embrace the skill and deftness of the movement and the performance. Brilliant.’ Cath James

‘Why?‘ – is both a tender and exhilarating aerial dance duet performed on a bespoke vertical set. Choreographed by Fin Walker for dancers Lindsey Butcher and Lee Clayden to a hauntingly beautiful score by composer Ben Park. (Running time – 22 mins). ‘A tour de force of aerial performance delivering emotional truth in every beatBradley Hemmings
